How to install an XAPK
Some apps download as an XAPK instead of a single APK. An XAPK is a bundle that holds the app split into several parts — the base plus pieces for your screen size, language and processor. Android can't open it by tapping, so you install it with a small free helper app. It takes one extra minute; here's how.
Step-by-step (using SAI)
- Install SAI (Split APKs Installer) — download it right here (free, open source, 5 MB; it's a normal one-tap APK). Also on the Play Store.
- Download the XAPK from the app's page here.
- Open SAI → tap Install APKs → find and select the downloaded .xapk file.
- If prompted, allow SAI to install unknown apps, and tap Install anyway on any Play Protect notice (see our guide).
- SAI installs all parts together — the app then appears with your other apps.
Prefer a one-tap APK? Many apps here are single APK files you can install directly without any of this — browse the catalog and check the label under the download button (APK vs XAPK).
Why apps ship as XAPK
Google now encourages developers to publish "App Bundles". Google Play then delivers only the parts your specific phone needs, which saves space. Outside the Play Store the whole bundle travels together as one XAPK — that's why an installer is needed to put the pieces back together. The file itself is the genuine, unmodified app; we publish its SHA-256 so you can verify it.
