Netflix brings its global catalogue of series and films to Android, and on this continent the phone is where most of that catalogue actually gets watched. Downloads are the feature that matters on a metered connection: queue episodes over Wi-Fi and they play later with mobile data switched off, while Smart Downloads clears what you have finished and pulls the next one in. Playback quality is set per profile, so a phone on a small bundle can be pinned to standard definition while the household tablet streams higher on home Wi-Fi. Netflix also sells a cheaper mobile-only plan in several African markets, which is often the only reason a subscription is affordable at all, and it is managed from the Android app.

How to update
The build on this page is Netflix 9.75.0 build 5 64437 (215.5 MB). APK installs do not update through the Play Store, so come back when a newer version is listed here and install it over the old one — your data is kept.
FAQ
Is there a free version of Netflix?
No. The app installs free, but every profile needs a paid plan — Netflix withdrew its free trial in most countries. What does exist in several African markets is a cheaper mobile-only plan, and a few carriers bundle a subscription with a data package. Any APK advertising "Netflix free" is not from Netflix.
How much mobile data does an hour of Netflix use?
Roughly 0.3 GB per hour on the Save Data setting, around 0.7 GB on Standard and up to 3 GB on High. Set it per profile under Playback settings rather than per device, and keep downloads on Wi-Fi — a downloaded episode costs nothing to rewatch.
Why won’t my downloaded episodes play?
Downloads expire — usually after 7 days, or 48 hours once you press play on some titles — and the app has to reach Netflix at least once a month to revalidate them. Each plan also caps how many devices can hold downloads at once. Open the app on Wi-Fi and the licences refresh.
Does Netflix work on a rooted phone?
Often not. Netflix uses Widevine DRM, and a rooted or unlocked-bootloader device usually fails the check, so playback either drops to low resolution or refuses to start. This is enforced by Netflix, not by the installer, so no APK build gets around it.
Is the Netflix APK safe to install?
Yes. We mirror the official Netflix, Inc. build and publish its SHA-256 checksum and a VirusTotal scan on this page, so you can verify the file is untouched before installing.
What is the Netflix package name?
The Android application ID is com.netflix.mediaclient. Check it after installing (Settings → Apps) to confirm you got the genuine app.
