Do I need an account to join a Zoom meeting?
No. Tapping an invite link or entering a meeting ID is enough to join, and you can set your display name on the way in. An account is only needed to host meetings, keep a personal meeting room or access cloud recordings.
How much data does a Zoom call use?
Video group calls run into several hundred megabytes an hour, and higher on HD. Audio only is a fraction of that — well under 100 MB an hour — so switching your camera off is the single biggest saving. If the connection is poor and the meeting offers a dial-in number for your country, joining by phone costs airtime instead of data — check the invite, since the numbers cover a limited country list and may be an international call.
Why did my meeting end after 40 minutes?
Since 2022 the free plan has capped every meeting at 40 minutes, one-to-one calls included, and the limit follows the host's account rather than yours. The usual workaround is simply to restart the meeting with the same link — there is no limit on how many times you can do that.
